Overview of the webinar
Nirvana Lab hosted a webinar introducing SB2Object Bridge, a new modernization accelerator built for the Liferay DXP ecosystem. The session was hosted by Jayesh Goswami, Technical Architect at Nirvana Lab.
What was covered:
The problem: Legacy Service Builder modules often hold critical business data, and migrating them to Liferay Objects manually is slow — requiring analysis, mapping, object setup, data movement, and validation, with little visibility into what's done, what's failed, and what needs a retry.
What SB2Object Bridge does: It discovers Service Builder structures (via service.xml or runtime namespace metadata), auto-creates the corresponding Liferay Object folders, definitions, and fields, migrates records over, and tracks progress through backend jobs — turning a manual process into a guided, repeatable workflow.
End-to-end flow: Discover → Plan → Create → Migrate → Monitor → Close, with confirmation checkpoints before any impactful action.
Live demo: Jayesh walked through both editions in a real Liferay DXP environment — uploading a service.xml, mapping entity columns to Object fields, running migrations, and showing completed jobs and notifications in real time (using sample School/Student entities as the demo dataset).
Who benefits: Business teams get a shorter, lower-risk migration timeline; architects get a phased modernization strategy; developers spend less time on repetitive mapping; admins get guided execution with progress visibility.
Scope and honesty check: The team was upfront that SB2Object Bridge isn't a one-click fix for every legacy behavior — custom business logic, finders, and workflows still need planning, and teams should validate and roll out in low-risk waves rather than all at once.
