Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned Liferay Lead / Architect with deep hands-on experience in Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP to lead architecture, design, and development of enterprise-grade digital platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in traditional Liferay development models as well as modern, cloud-native, headless, and composable architectures.

This role involves technical leadership, solution design, code quality ownership, and mentoring teams, while collaborating closely with business stakeholders and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

• Design scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions using Liferay DXP (7.x / 7.4+)
• Define overall portal architecture, including content, commerce, integration, and personalization
• Drive migration and modernization initiatives (Legacy Liferay → DXP, Monolith → Headless/Microservices)
• Create technical blueprints, HLDs, LLDs, and integration diagrams

Liferay Development & Customization

• Lead development using:
  • MVC Portlets (traditional)
  • OSGi modules
  • Service Builder
  • Hooks & Ext plugins (legacy)
• Develop and review:
  • Custom portlets, themes, and fragments
  • Headless APIs using Liferay REST & GraphQL
  • Workflow, roles, permissions, and user segmentation
• Ensure best practices for performance, caching, and security

Modern & Latest Liferay Practices

• Implement Headless Liferay with React / Angular / Vue frontends
• Experience with:
  • Liferay Objects
  • Client Extensions
  • Fragments & Experience Builder
  • Remote Apps
• Integrate Liferay with external systems (CRM, ERP, payment gateways, identity providers)
• Exposure to Liferay Commerce is a strong plus

Cloud, DevOps & CI/CD

• Architect deployments on:
  • AWS / Azure / GCP
  • Docker & Kubernetes
• Setup and guide:
  • CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Blue-green / rolling deployments
• Optimize environments for HA, DR, and scalability

Technical Leadership

• Act as technical SPOC for clients and internal stakeholders
• Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers
• Estimate efforts, manage technical risks, and support presales activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

Core Liferay Skills

• 8–12 years of overall IT experience with 5+ years on Liferay
• Strong experience with:
  • Liferay Portal 6.x and Liferay DXP 7.x / 7.4+
  • OSGi, Service Builder, MVC Framework
  • Theme & frontend customization
• Deep understanding of Liferay security, permissions, roles, and workflows

Backend & Integration

• Strong Java & J2EE background
• REST / SOAP API integrations
• Authentication: OAuth2, SAML, LDAP, Keycloak
• Messaging & async processing (Kafka / RabbitMQ – nice to have)

Frontend & UI

• JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3
• React / Angular (preferred)
• Liferay Themes, Fragments, and Widgets

Databases & Search

• PostgreSQL / MySQL / Oracle
• Elasticsearch / OpenSearch
• Performance tuning & indexing strategies

Good to Have

• Liferay Commerce, CPQ, or B2B/B2C implementations
• Experience in Government, Manufacturing, or Enterprise Portals
• Liferay certifications (Developer / Architect)
• Exposure to SEO, Analytics, and Personalization in Liferay
• Presales, RFP, and solution estimation experience
